Becoming a Sister. . . When you are ready for an experience of living with some sisters in the community, sharing the “ins and outs” of daily schedules, and praying with them, you will move in the Candidate Stage of formation. During this time, you will live in a local community while keeping your job. This is an opportunity for you to grow in self-knowledge, and in relationship with the sisters and with God. This period can last from 6 months to two years. During this time the Candidate Director will accompany you. Deciding to continue on the journey to becoming a sister would find you ready for the Novitiate. During this two-year period, you would be invited to a deeper relationship with God while growing in many other ways. The Novitiate would involve XX time for prayer, reflection, theological study, learning about Religious Life, our Presentation history, and Community. There is time for participating in the work and mission of the congregation. While in the Novitiate, you use the title “Sister” and wear the Congregational cross. The sister who accompanies you for this period is the Novice Director. After completion of the Novitiate, you make a commitment to God to live faithfully the Vows of poverty, consecrated celibacy, and obedience for a period of three years. You are given the Congregational ring and continue to live in community with other Presentation Sisters, ministering or continuing your theological studies. During this time of living as a Professed Presentation Sister, you continue to discern God’s direction in your life. At the conclusion of this time, you may request to renew your vows, to profess your vows permanently, or to return to your former lifestyle. The first profession can last from three to six years with the Temporary Professed Director serving as a guide.
