| The call to religious life. . . |
![]() |
| Each of us has a call as baptized Christians to use our gifts and talents in the service of others. Some do this as single women, others do this through marriage and some are called to religious life. The process of discernment in which a person prays for guidance and wisdom helps in understanding what God may be asking of you. Discernment requires that you have a relationship with God and desire to know God’s plan for you. During this process you hear with your heart and become more aware of what is happening with you emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually. Discernment is a process in which you become familiar with how God speaks to you. | |
| If you feel called to religious life or would like to know more about the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Vocation Director will respond to your interest. She is a Sister who will be able to meet or talk with you, give you information and help you understand where God may be calling you in the future. If you would like to have contact with the Vocation Director, please contact VocationDirector@sistersofthepresentation.org. | |
| The Role of a Vocation Director | |
![]() The Vocation Director is a Sister who is specifically designated by the Congregation to meet with you and other interested women in religious life to help them define their call in our Church today. This Sister helps you look at what it is you are thinking about or questioning in your call, answers questions, helps direct your thinking and prayer. Her role is to help you find YOUR call. A Vocation Director meets with many women who may not enter any particular congregation or may decide that religious life is not their call. She is someone who protects the confidentially of what it is you are thinking, questioning and processing as you consider a possible call to religious life. The Vocation Director has the information to
tell you the specifics of the congregation - it’s living, ministry, role
in the church. She can also give you more information about the
formation process. If you decide you would like to continue the
relationship, you would meet with the Vocation Director on a regular
basis to see if this is something you would want to further explore.
It is commonly said at one
of the first meetings when meeting with the Vocation Director, “My role
is to help you find where God is calling you in your life. Wherever that
is –our congregation, another congregation, married or single life, we
will celebrate with you. Hopefully you will be different for meeting the
Sisters of the Presentation and we will be different because we have met
you.” |
