Sr. Mary O'Neill shared this story “Little John, eight years old, was anxious to get a present for his mom for Mother’s Day. We helped him find one from our thrift store, wrapped it and I said to him in all naiveté, “Now hide this in your dresser drawer until Sunday so you can surprise your Mom.” He replied, “I don’t have a dresser drawer.” I pressed on, “Well, hide it under your bed.” “I don’t have a bed”, was the answer. “But John, then, where do you sleep and where do you put your clothes?” His matter-of-fact reply caused my heart to crack and added to my education, “I sleep on the floor in the living room and I keep my clothes in a big plastic bag.”
Sr. Mary works at Newburgh Ministry, a community center which helps those in need. Like many of our Sisters, Sr. Mary does not receive compensation. She is supported by the congregation.
Your donation has an immediate impact. It will not only help support our Sisters who work without compensation but it will help support:
With your support we can continue to reach out to those in need, following in the words of our foundress, Nano Nagle, "If I could be of service in saving souls in any part of the world I would gladly do all in my power. Where there is a need I will go."
Any donation great or small is greatly appreciated. You and your family will be remembered in the Sisters’ prayers.
